Thank you so much for visiting our site, for listening to our podcasts, and taking time to contribute. We are so glad you are here and want you to know how much you are recognized, appreciated, and loved.
Greetings and welcome to our podcast's site. My name is David and I am so glad that you found us. I dreamed up the idea for this podcast several days after I got married to my amazing husband and we driving back home from our wedding. Having just publicly come out to all of my friends and family not a few days before (albeit many of them already knew), I thought this would have been much easier if I had done that sooner. Sadly, there were many obstacles, my own pride being one of them, to ever doing that. That's when I decided that I had to do something to empower other young people to not endure the same years of fear and lack of self-acceptance that I did. And it's not like I didn't know who I was or what my sexuality was, it's just that I couldn't accept that, and I didn't want to accept that. Is everything in my life easier now that I'm married, out, and being vocal about this? No, but some things certainly are, and I hope they will be for you as well.
Hence, we're here, hosting a podcast that is all about that being gay is OK. I hope you enjoy the stories that are shared here, but most importantly, I hope that you can find the strength, courage, or motivation to accept that who you are is just the way you were meant to be. God (or at least give your mom and dad credit for doing so) created you to be just exactly like you are. There is nothing wrong with you being gay, bisexual, transgendered, questioning of your sexuality, just a little curious, or anything in between. You are perfect just like you are and I love you just like you are.
Meet Veronica & Erin
Veronica has known David her entire life—literally! Veronica was born 4 months after David, and lucked out by sharing the best Grandma (Granny) in the whole world! Yes, Veronica and David are cousins!
Veronica was born and raised in Wisconsin and resides in the lovely, colorful town of Madison WI. While straight as an arrow, Veronica has always had close friends, acquaintances, and co-workers along the LGBTQ spectrum and is a strong ally of that community.
She lives with her beloved fur children—a yellow lab-Bowie- and a tuxedo cat-Cato-(along with others who gained their angel wings over the years), and is always one breath away from adding a new pet to the mix.
As part of this podcast, Veronica continues to support her LGBTQ friends and family in their life of embracing who they truly are. She wishes to help our society realize the fundamental need and right of this community to be recognized, loved, and treated with equality, and is so glad that you are here.
Erin has known David for almost 20 years. They started working together at a retail department store when Erin was beginning her management journey. They spent several years working in retail before he convinced her to join the youth ministry team at their church. Some of her best friends were made from that young adult group, and David and Erin's friendship certainly has endured. Cue several years later, when unbeknownst to each other, they are both working for the Department of Commerce and happen to run into each other at the office. Their relationship has been a crazy cycle of happenstances, one after another.
David even tried to date Erin during his sexual revolution... No clue how that would have wound up!? HAHA
Like Veronica, Erin is also not directly a part of the LGBTQ community, but much like her, Erin has worked with and has several family members and close friends who live very happy, successful, and fulfilled lives as part of this community. She has always loved and supported her LGBTQ friends and when David approached her with the idea of this podcast, Erin knew it was going to fill a major gap that many LGBTQ people have in their lives. Erin hopes you enjoy the podcast, but most of all, that you find a nugget of knowledge, a story of strength, or an explanation of overcoming a hurdle that inspires, helps, or guides you to believing you are who you were meant to be and are loved just as you are.
